Michigan Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema has once again reestablished his firm belief in traditional marriage. At the Berrien County Republican Party Holiday Reception Dave spoke from past experiences he has had at the workplace where coworkers had taken advantage of employee provided healthcare to receive free treatment for friends who were not their legitimate spouses. He did not make a blatant statement against all homosexuals; he just discussed an occurrence that he witnessed.

This speech garnered a lot of attention from the liberal media and has been pushed by a minority of liberal Republicans. As a young person, I assure you that many young people see his speech as an exercise in free speech. Free speech in the age of Facebook and Twitter being one of our most treasured Rights. While some young people also have a commitment to traditional marriage that is not the view of all young people. What we can agree on is that we support Dave’s ability to use free speech and stay true to his convictions. I applaud Mr. Agema for standing up for convictions, regardless of whether I agree with them or not. It is rare to see people who do not back down from intense scrutiny and stick to their beliefs.

Agema really was just restating the Republican Party Platform. Our platform supports traditional marriage and that is all that Dave was doing. There is nothing wrong with Dave staying true to party platform and promoting Republican values. The core of his speech was stressing the importance of unity at this cross roads in America. Dave gave a speech that had a positive message and discussed unifying the Tea Party and Republican Party. The Republican Party is a big tent, we are able to focus on shared values and come together when the liberal agenda is being pushed onto us. Dave, like a majority of young people believe that we can find a common ground which we will use to win in 2014 and beyond.

Obama’s greatest broken promise

Syria has been in turmoil for several years now, just recently things escalated when chemical weapons (WMDs) were used on an attack against Syrian civilians. The evidence for who used the WMDs against the innocents that were attacked are not clear. Was the government responsible for the attacks or was it the terrorist backed rebels the ones who committed these atrocities? I believe it was the desperate rebels who were attempting to frame the government.

Either way, Obama had promised that he would attack and send in a limited air strike against key government controlled military installations. The idea was not to cripple the government, instead just to “teach the government a lesson”. Because killing Syrians will teach the government a lesson…

Obama broke yet another promise. This was not going to be popular to attack Syria, but if our President promises and breaks that promise to attack a country then anyone can attack someone else without reparations. Syria can attack innocent people, how long before North Korea can attack the South? Or Iran can attack Israel, or Mexico can attack a nation in Central America? How long before the strength that once was synonymous with The United States of America becomes so deteriorated that China or Russia feels that they can attack us on our own soil?

I am not advocating that we attack everyone else, or that we act as the world’s police. If the President says he will do something, he better do it. The President should be an example and someone who is looked up to. Being the President means that when you make a promise you need to keep it.

Why is Our Government Spying on Us?

Why is Our Government Spying on Us?

The Unites States government under President Barack Obama has greatly increased the powers of the Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency. This seems like a good thing until you find out what is actually going on. DHS patrols the streets of America and NSA spies on Americans. This is sick and what our founding father fought tooth and nail to expel from our homes.

Last year it became headline news when DHS bought 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. The explanation for the large purchase is that there was an economy of scales situation where the large purchase was much cheaper than making a smaller purchase. The legitimacy of this claim has come into question. At the same time of this purchase, DHS also bought several Armored Personnel Carriers, which are large armored cars. The purposes of these APCs are to patrol the streets of major US cities. One of which has been sent to Detroit.

More recently the Whitehouse has come under fire for tapping the phones, reading the emails of, and spying on American Citizens. If that is not bad enough (it is BAD that our government is spying on us), the Obama administration is not spying on our closest allies. France is being spied on, with millions of calls being listened to within a 30 day time period. Now Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel has had her call information spied on by the Obama administration. In a world of enemies, Barack Obama has done everything he can to make sure to alienate some of our oldest and strongest allies in Europe.

Weiser for U of M Regent

The Right Man for The Job

Ron Weiser is a man with experience, he has run a successful business for many years, served our country’s interests as ambassador to Slovakia for four years and raised the funds for the Republican Party to win in a landslide against the Democrats in 2010. Ron Weiser has fought tooth and nail for the Republican Party and to bring Right to Work to the state of Michigan. I believe that he will fight for the benefit of the students at the University of Michigan.

As a student there are a few things that are important to me. It is important that my rights are defended, it is important that my peers know what their Constitutional Rights are. It is important that the classroom is kept as a sacred place for learning and not used as a breeding ground for liberal indoctrination. I need my tuition to be affordable so that I can continue to attain a world class education that can only be found in these United States. Finally I need there to be top notch positions available that I can turn into a full-fledged career when I walk across the stage and am handed my diploma.

Ron Weiser will make sure I have all of these things. Ron Weiser understands that all men and women are created equal, meaning that race and gender have no place in determining whether or not someone should be admitted to the University of Michigan. Ron will make sure that everyone is educated on the Constitution, so that we all know what it means to be a good citizen. Ron will work to trim the budget to ensure that all in-state students can afford a world-class education. At Michigan State there was a professor who used lecture time to infect the minds of innocent students with liberal bias, Ron will make sure that does not happen. Finally, Ron Weiser worked day and night to make sure this state is a Right to Work state. That piece of legislation will make sure that Michigan is able to attract more and more, high quality jobs for years to come.

As a student I look at Ron Weiser, what he has accomplished, what he has put his heart and soul into accomplishing and I see someone who will fight for the benefit of the University and its students. Whether it be getting the Right to Work legislation passed so I know I will have an excellent job ready for me when I graduate. Or if I look at Ron Weiser’s experience in business or service in Slovakia. As a student I know Ron Weiser is the right person, at the right time and who we need as a University of Michigan Regent.

On October 1st 2013 our federal government was shut down for the first time in 17 years. Who is to blame? looking at why the Senate refused pass the proposed budget yields no answers, as the proposed budget is very reasonable and agreeable. There must be hidden motives by the Senate Democrats. Political terrorism comes to mind, it sounds like the Senate Democrats have shut down the government as a way to start a war with the Republicans. The Democrats blame the shut down on the Republicans even though it is the Democrats who have refused to pass a budget and caused this shut down.
